The world is as it is because we are as we are, and the more we grow in awareness, the more capable we become of creating a better experience for ourselves and all others. Before you take your next action, no matter what it is, ask yourself this: What if everyone else also did this? Instantly you will know the quality of your choice and its impact.

The more we shift our awareness from “me” to “we”, the more we can understand how our choices compound for better or for worse. The less self-centered we are and the more we recognize that we are here sharing this reality together, the more responsibility we each take for our actions.

How are your actions shaping our world? How are your actions changing the world? How are your actions impacting the lives of others? How are your actions impacting our environment? Here is a simple exercise to find out by filling in your own examples of “this”:

  • What if everyone else bought this?
  • What if everyone else bought this much?
  • What if everyone else ate this?
  • What if everyone else ate this much?
  • What if everyone else used this?
  • What if everyone else used this much?
  • What if everyone else did this?
  • What if everyone else said this?
  • What if everyone else thought this?
  • What if everyone else believed this?

Don’t let your Ego sabotage your positive efforts with apathy or cynicism. This is not about seeking an elusive state of perfection but about states of improvement and betterment.

Be the change — a positive change in action!
