The Convoluted Universe is a series of books that are excellent at pushing beyond static boundaries and exploring unknown dimensions of the physical, spiritual and energetic worlds. Author Dolores Cannon shares her clinical work with her clients through their hypnosis-induced recollections of other worlds and other lives in these books to give us a glimpse into alternate reality potentials.

One of the most fascinating aspects of life is to keep pushing the boundaries of what we think we know and increasing our conscious awareness of all that is possible. It is incredible when we step back in our personal lives alone to see how much we thought we knew at any given time, and how certain perhaps we were about any of this information, compared to where we are in the present moment. The same goes for our societal and world histories. We have learned so much, grown so much and expanded so much – and we continue to do so.

Many of us naturally engage in searching for answers, exploring possibilities and expanding our awareness. The most popular approach though, thus far, has been to take the stories of others as to how things were or should be, and hold onto them as “the truth” or as our own, without ever questioning or examining if they even make sense. Religions, Newtonian science, and most mainstream ideologies or organizations are an excellent example of stifling information and new possibilities. To lock ourselves into one way of seeing or thinking about things is beyond a mere stagnation of the human potential.

For me, a curious mind is a living mind. Thankfully, since the beginning of time as we know it, there have always been brave and inquisitive minds who have stimulated various awakenings amongst the masses. Some were killed, some were worshipped. Almost all were feared or condemned in one way or another. This is what makes our modern times so unique, exciting and full of hope. Today so many beings are openly searching for answers—seeking truth. So many are not satisfied with the status quo, and instead inspiring, awakening and enlightening others as they proceed along their path. As a result, we have numerable resources today to help each one of us find answers for ourselves, expand our minds and push the boundaries of possibility in every realm of life as we know it.

One such resource is The Convoluted Universe series of books written by acclaimed author and hypnotherapist Dolores Cannon. The first of what has now become four books is The Convoluted Universe: Book One.

About the Book

The Convoluted Universe: Book One is a very fascinating, exciting and mind expanding book to read. The book features a diverse collection of sessions that Dolores had with various clients, while they were regressed using hypnosis. Although there are a few short sections of commentary from her, over 90% of the book is a dialogue in a question and answer format, with Dolores (or the odd audience member) asking questions and the answers coming from various sources through the regressed person who is in deep hypnosis. Sometimes the sources are extraterrestrial beings, or various collective energies from other dimensions. Other times they are the subconscious mind of the person themselves.

The book is over 550 pages, so it is a bigger and longer read than most average books. However, the topics change frequently, are very fascinating and so it is an enjoyable read. There are 16 chapters divided into 5 sections.

Here is a general breakdown of the main topics covered in each section:

Section 1: The Search for the Prodigy

This section includes three chapters that introduce the reader to Dolores’ work in regressing clients and the unique array of information that comes through them. This section focuses on contact with extraterrestrial beings, how and why they work with various people on our current physical Earth, and some of the technology they use.

Section 2: Continuation from “The Custodians”

This section includes two chapters and continues with the theme of extraterrestrials and UFO phenomenon. There are sections about the Akashic records, other planets, star systems, beings and purpose of integration with Earth energies.

Section 3: Earth Mysteries

This section includes three chapters and covers a thorough examination of the land, beings, technology and life during the time of Atlantis. It includes an exploration of the pyramids, how they were built and why. As well, it includes a chapter on other unexplained mysteries on Earth, such as the Loch Ness Monster and Crop Circles.

Section 4: Vibrations, Frequencies and Levels

This section includes two chapters that cover the different aspects of understanding other dimensions, how energy interacts on various levels, and how beings interact with the self, others within a certain dimension and with other dimensions. It also explores the feeling many Earth humans have about having a home somewhere “else”, not quite belonging here and some of their experiences upon returning to what their real home of origin may be.

Section 5: Metaphysics or Quantum Physics

This section includes six chapters and covers parallel universes, the use and manipulation of energy, the God source and its energy, as well as different aspects of the human body in terms of transformations and possible expressions.

The awakening is the purpose. The awakening of the fact that in essence we are light, we are love. Each cell of our body, each cell and molecule of everything. The power source that runs all life is light. So to awaken to that knowledge, and to desire to operate in that realm, and to believe that it is possible, are all factors that will put you there.

Personal Commentary

To date, Dolores has written 17 books, with many of them preceding The Convoluted Universe series. In her introduction she thus recommends for the reader to read her book The Custodians, before attempting this one. I did not read The Custodians before reading this book and think that it depends on the level of awareness a person has to date about the different topics that she writes about that will either help or make no difference to understanding the material she covers in The Convoluted Universe Book 1. I found it to stand well enough on its own, as long perhaps as one has some previous knowledge or understanding of hypnosis, past life regressions, channelling and UFO/extraterrestrial topics.

From the first chapter, the book hooked me in. I would almost consider the book like a big story book for adults. And as long as we treat the book as such, it can be super valuable to our personal evolution and fascinating, not to mention very entertaining. I thus made sure to read the book as free as possible of any judgements and expectations. Yes, some of the material was more interesting to read than others. And yes, some of the material resonated with me very strongly, while other parts not very much. For example I did not resonate very much with the information in the chapter on Atlantis, while I resonated very strongly with the information about the God Source. Regardless, thanks to this book (and others like it), I was able to push my personal boundaries on various topics and expand my consciousness even further as to what is out there, or what is possible.

Some parts were funny, some parts were serious, but all were incredibly fascinating. Ultimately it is not about believing or not believing, for all is possible. Books like this simply show us all the infinite possibilities out there. And as Dolores says, this book (and the others in the series) are perfect if you want to have your mind bent like a pretzel. The ideas, possibilities and concepts they present can literally be mind bending for many!

If we examine the information presented from a more critical angle, of course lots can be argued about as to its validity. When it comes to hypnosis and regressions, even though they are held in high regard as valuable tools for all sorts of healing and therapy, there is also some criticism as to the credibility of information when it comes to presenting facts. Some experts have claimed that the information coming through the subjects is just a “make up of their own imagination”. However, if we understand the nature of the mind and soul a little deeper, we come to understand that reality is indeed in the eye of the beholder. Therefore whatever is thought of, imagined or experienced by a subject can be as real as we think this physical reality is. We have to realize that it is not up to us to judge what someone else may have gone through or is capable of, no matter how out of the world it may seem. This alone causes us to be more open-minded and understanding of the amazing nature of the Universe.

Aside from staying open minded, inquisitive and curious, the greatest message that I felt is given to us through books like these (and is even mentioned several times within this book) is that all the information and answers we seek are within us. We just need the intention and desire, as well as purity of mind and heart to tap into the energetic repositories of all knowledge. We need to trust ourselves, connect with ourselves and the source of all creation. Yes, we have relied on “others”, from priests to psychics, to give us the answers throughout time, but all of the great masters have pointed at the same conclusion. Ultimately we will come to know that everything we seek is within each one of us.

One of the biggest pitfalls anyone of us can experience while reading a book like this is taking it literally at face value, or as some absolute truth. If we are told that the pyramids were created through levitation, this is not necessarily “the” truth. It is only one truth, one possibility or potential. What I always remind myself of and share with others is that each person, no matter who they are, have their own personal filters of how they experience reality, based on their own personal state of evolution and set of data to date. Therefore what another tells you is only and always THEIR truth – not yours. It can actually never be your truth unless you experience it yourself. There is of course nothing wrong with resonating with something and thinking that it is more probable, but we start to close off our infinite potential as soon as we believe something to be one way and not any other.

In some parts of the book as some of the answers were given, I definitely detected a filter of information on the side of the subject that showed a limitation of time and/or the collective knowledge. If the same information was given today, I have no doubt it would be presented by different facts. So again, it is very important while reading books like this to stay conscious of not assimilating any information into new belief systems. Like Dolores mentions in one part, sometimes the answers given through the different subjects seem even contradictory in nature, but they all seem to have a piece of the puzzle. I agree with that very much and feel that indeed each being has some of the pieces, and as observers of others’ stories we can paint an overall picture of what is likely the closest to the absolute truth. Again absolute truth in my opinion can only be experienced personally, and even then it is applicable only to the person experiencing it and infinitely dynamic, subject to change as the person evolves. The stories of others can only nudge us into awakening and finding our own truth for ourselves. They can remind us of our own inherent knowledge and this is one of the best aspects of books like this.

So it seems as though this part of us that is living a life on Earth is only a small piece or splinter of a much larger us. That we are many rather than one, or rather pieces of a more complex whole. We are only able to focus on the splinter we perceive as our totality. That is a good thing, because if we were aware of the complexity of it we would not be able to function in this world or reality. We are only able to see the facade that masks a much larger picture. Only now are we being allowed to peek behind the veil.

Dolores Cannon – The Convoluted Universe Book One

In conclusion, I enjoyed reading this book and would definitely consider reading the rest of the series to explore other topics. The Convoluted Universe Book One is an incredibly exciting read to expand one’s consciousness on so many interesting and fascinating topics. It can awaken various desires within each person to probe further into the answers, seek more questions and gather a more complete understanding of life on this planet and beyond for themselves. Most importantly, it helps in developing our inner knowing, trust and reliance on our own guidance system as we journey along our personal path of evolution and consciousness expansion.
