There are so many amazing books and resources out there today to help us awaken, evolve, change, grow and develop whatever area of our lives or ourselves that we may need. One such book is In Search of the Miraculous: Healing into Consciousness by Eliza Mada Dalian.

This book spoke to me on many levels and quite honestly I felt many times that the words Mada was sharing were my own. There was a strong resonance in what she was writing to what I am living. Although in the beauty of each of us being on their own unique path, it was a pleasure to also learn about Mada’s path, her work, various views and experiences to this point in her life.

Book Content & Personal Commentary

The book opens with a wonderful several page introduction from the editor, Jesse Carlinger, about his life journey and how Mada’s work impacted it. What stood out for me the most was the following line, which so perfectly described to me the state so many of us live in:

“I realized that all of my stress and suffering was due to my ignorance of and resistance to this truth—we are all one and everything is a temporary illusion.”

Upon Jesse’s explanation of Mada and her forthright spiritual approaches, I was greatly intrigued to read on…

As I mentioned in the introduction, what I have found over the past several months or perhaps year, is that I am not currently drawn to books about the Ego, transcending suffering, expanding the consciousness or enlightenment. It is as if I came to the point that I “heard it all”, and simply want to live it, rather than keep reading about it. However, with Mada’s book it was so different. I was, I have to admit, hesitant to read it at first, but once I did it resonated with me so much. The tone and wisdom spoke to me like Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth, and felt like an expanded review on many levels.

In the first chapter, Mada opened the dialogue by covering the different aspects of consciousness and healing. I enjoyed what Mada said about so many parts that I had learned about before, but connected better with her way of seeing them. For example, I love the concept of meditation in every single form, but I it took me a long time to figure out that I don’t necessarily love the practice, at least not the formal practice the way it is presented in most spiritual books. For me meditation is a way of life, and so when Mada stated “meditation is the practice of witnessing”, I immediately felt a strong resonant connection.

To be conscious and live in the Now, we need to continually witness our thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

The second chapter offered a thorough examination of the ego-mind. Mada covered how it is formed, how it thrives and how we can transform it. I loved Mada’s concept of the Ego, as simply that part of our energy, which is unconscious. I really like this definition, because it is not charged as something good, or bad, or something we must fight, renounce or get rid of. When we are conscious, we are living from our true being. When we are unconscious, we live from the ego-mind. I also greatly enjoyed Mada’s discussion on the developed versus undeveloped ego-mind. It was the best summary I have heard thus far, clearly outlining how our actions, words, thoughts and emotions stem from either one.

People with developed ego-mind and consciousness no longer live according to others’ expectations and beliefs of what’s right or wrong and feel no need to follow others’ ideas and standards.

The third chapter was extremely powerful with Mada explaining the simple, yet challenging act of surrender and what it really means to live from this space. The power of surrender has been so instrumental in my life and today, it simply seems futile to resist what is, or struggle against the current.

When we stop struggling with what is, we bring peace to ourselves and the world, and free our energy of the pain and suffering the mind creates.

The fourth chapter explored the idea of complete health, through a thorough examination of thought, how it plays out and affects our lives. In this part, as with all the others what stood out for me was Mada’s call for personal responsibility. This is something that has has been resonating with me so strongly because I know that once we take responsibility for our thoughts, words and actions, we begin to live life in the flow of true purpose, meaning, full spectrum health and joy.

If you want to change the way you feel, you need to change the way you think.

The fifth and sixth chapters examine various aspects of the purpose of our lives, how we came to be here, how the unconscious and conscious play out their parts in the dance of creation, how to fully heal into consciousness and conscious dying. Mada covered the 7 bodies we ascend through on our journey towards enlightenment and mergence with the Absolute and the purpose and healing of the 7 Chakras. Although Mada did a great job covering these topics, I felt these chapters were least interesting for me at the present moment, compared to the other chapters. I used to be fascinated by the Chakras, Ascension and all things like that, reading up on them vigorously. Today, even though those topics still somewhat capture my interest, I try to stay rather unattached to any particular process that attempts to explain our path of enlightenment, and work with these areas through my personal experience.

The seventh chapter also spoke to me deeply as it dealt with removing the veils of illusion. As Mada explains there are many layers to the three main veils of illusion—personal, collective and cosmic—that we need to move through as we heal into consciousness. Here, Mada not only included how to break through the veils of illusion, but also signs of how you know, you are successfully doing so.

The more you observe yourself and the reality around you, the more conscious you become. If you always remember to remain a detached observer to whatever is happening, you will easily break through the veils of illusion.

In part 2-chapter 8, as the reader we are in for a surprise twist that is quite different from the rest of the book. Here, Mada shares her life story, starting with some intriguing past lives, to her current state of existence. She chronicles, in a detailed way, her journey of searching and awakening, to her present day work and calling.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I really enjoyed the writing style, the tone, format and the content of the book. Alongside the wisdom and experience she shares, Mada includes valuable exercises and tips throughout the book, including a section of common questions and answers, about each of the parts for greater clarity and practical application.

I can definitely say that I recommend this book, for all those who are interested in their personal expansion and evolution. It is a book that elegantly and clearly emphasizes the power of our thoughts in all levels of our health and the need for consciousness expansion in order to further our soul evolution. I know that this book was very much what I needed to hear, as it was like a crystal clear summary of where I have been, where I am and where I am going. It provided the physical ideas and phrases which I live, but rarely these days, can find the right words for. I greatly enjoyed it, and if you decide to read this book, it is my hope that it offers you exactly what you need to hear too, for your personal continued growth and transformation.

Don’t try to be “spiritual” by suppressing parts of yourself that need to be lived.
